Grane Dam, built in the 1960s, is a large reservoir nestled in the Harz forest about 10 km north of Goslar. The dam wall itself is an impressive structure, and the surrounding area offers a network of hiking and cycling trails. Visitors can walk or cycle along the 8 km perimeter path, enjoying views of the water and forest. The reservoir is also used for fishing, sailing, and windsurfing (with permits). A highlight is the Grane Dam viewpoint near the dam crest, where you can see the entire basin. The area is quieter than other Harz attractions, making it ideal for a peaceful nature escape.
Don't miss
