Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen is a premier destination for modern and contemporary art, split between two iconic buildings in Düsseldorf. K20, located at Grabbeplatz, focuses on classical modernism with works by Picasso, Klee, Matisse, and Mondrian. Its light-filled galleries are a highlight. K21, in the former parliament building (Ständehaus), features contemporary art from the 1990s onward, including installations, video art, and large-scale works. The building itself is a masterpiece, with a glass dome and a striking spiral staircase. Both venues offer rotating exhibitions and educational programs. The collection is known for its depth in German Expressionism and American Abstract Expressionism.
