Duisburg Zoo is one of Germany's most popular zoos, home to more than 2,000 animals representing 280 species. The zoo is renowned for its dolphinarium, where daily shows and educational presentations highlight the intelligence and agility of bottlenose dolphins. The tropical house 'Rio Negro' recreates the Amazon rainforest, complete with free-flying birds, monkeys, and giant river otters. Other highlights include a walk-through aviary, a large elephant enclosure, and a koala house. The zoo is set in a landscaped park with plenty of shade, making it a pleasant place for a family day out. Conservation and breeding programs are a key focus, and the zoo participates in international efforts to protect endangered species.
