The Albertinum is a museum located on Brühl's Terrace, one of Dresden's most scenic promenades overlooking the Elbe River. Originally built as an armory in the 16th century, the building was redesigned in the Renaissance Revival style in the 1880s and named after King Albert of Saxony. Today, it houses two major collections: the New Masters Gallery (Galerie Neue Meister), featuring 19th- and 20th-century art including works by Caspar David Friedrich, Gerhard Richter, and Otto Dix, and the Sculpture Collection (Skulpturensammlung) with pieces from antiquity to the present. The museum's interior blends historic architecture with modern exhibition spaces, and its location on Brühl's Terrace offers stunning views of the Elbe. Visitors can explore paintings, sculptures, and temporary exhibitions in a setting that feels both grand and intimate.
