Petersberg is a prominent peak in the Siebengebirge hills, rising above the Rhine River east of Bonn. Its summit provides sweeping vistas of the river valley, the city of Bonn, and the surrounding vineyards. The mountain is crowned by the Petersberg Hotel, a historic building that once served as a guest house for visiting dignitaries and now offers upscale accommodation and dining. Visitors can hike up through forested trails, passing viewpoints and the ruins of an old monastery. The area is part of a nature reserve, so wildlife like deer and birds are common. At the top, a terrace and restaurant allow you to soak in the view while enjoying local cuisine. Petersberg is a favorite for day-trippers seeking fresh air and a break from the city, with trails suitable for all fitness levels.
