Heiglkopf, standing at 1,082 meters, is a rewarding hiking destination in the Bavarian Prealps just south of Bad Tölz. The ascent typically begins from the Lenggries or Bad Tölz area, winding through lush alpine meadows and mixed forests. As you climb, the trail opens up to sweeping vistas of the Isar Valley and the jagged peaks of the Karwendel and Wetterstein ranges. The summit itself is a grassy dome with a wooden summit cross, providing a perfect spot for a picnic and photography. Unlike some of the more crowded peaks in the region, Heiglkopf retains a sense of tranquility, making it ideal for hikers seeking a peaceful nature experience. The route is moderately challenging, with well-marked paths suitable for regular hikers. In summer, wildflowers blanket the slopes, while autumn brings golden larch forests. The mountain is also a popular starting point for longer treks into the surrounding pre-alpine landscape.
