Perched on a hillside overlooking the Alazani Valley, Bodbe Monastery is one of Georgia's most sacred sites. Pilgrims and visitors come to pay respects at the tomb of Saint Nino, the 4th-century evangelist who converted the kingdom. The main church, adorned with frescoes, houses her grave, while a spring in the grounds is said to have healing waters. The tranquil grounds, with manicured gardens and a bell tower, offer sweeping views of the Caucasus Mountains. Many visitors walk the scenic trail from Sighnaghi, making it a peaceful half-day escape.
