Abuko Nature Reserve is one of Gambia's oldest protected areas, featuring dense gallery forest, a winding nature trail, and a small zoo with rescued animals. The trail follows a stream, passing through lush vegetation where visitors can see baboons, crocodiles, and numerous bird species like the blue-breasted kingfisher. The reserve's highlight is the viewing platform overlooking a waterhole frequented by animals. It's a compact but rich introduction to Gambian wildlife and ecosystems.
