Kachikally Museum and Crocodile Pool is a revered site in Bakau, just north of Kololi, where a natural spring-fed pool is home to dozens of Nile crocodiles that are considered sacred by the local community. Unlike in the wild, these crocodiles are accustomed to human presence and can often be seen basking on the banks. Visitors can carefully touch the crocodiles under the guidance of attendants. The on-site museum displays ethnographic artifacts, including musical instruments, masks, and tools, offering insight into Gambian traditions and history. The site is also used for fertility rituals, adding a layer of cultural significance.
