Porte Saint-Vincent is one of the most iconic landmarks in Vannes, a massive stone gate that once formed part of the city's medieval fortifications. Built in the 13th century and later modified, the gate features a large arched passageway flanked by two round towers. It marks the transition from the narrow, winding streets of the old town to the open spaces of the port and the Gulf of Morbihan. Passing through the gate, visitors emerge onto Place Gambetta, a lively square with views of the marina. The gate is named after Saint Vincent, the patron saint of Vannes. It is a popular meeting point and a great spot for photos, especially at sunset when the stone glows golden.
