The Strasbourg Christmas Market, known locally as Christkindelsmärik, transforms the city into a winter wonderland from late November through December. Dating back to 1570, it is one of the oldest Christmas markets in Europe. The main hub is at Place Kléber, where a giant Christmas tree stands, but the market spills into surrounding squares and streets, each with its own theme. Visitors can browse hundreds of wooden chalets selling handcrafted ornaments, Alsatian delicacies like bredele cookies and mulled wine, and unique gifts. The air fills with the scent of cinnamon, roasted almonds, and fir. Live music, a carousel, and ice skating rink add to the festive atmosphere. The market is renowned for its magical lighting and the Grande Roue (Ferris wheel) offering panoramic views. It's a sensory feast that captures the spirit of Alsatian Christmas traditions.
