The Boulevard des Pyrénées is a magnificent 1.8-kilometer-long terrace that stretches from the Château de Pau to the elegant Parc Beaumont. Built in the 19th century, it was designed to showcase the stunning vista of the Pyrenees mountain range, which on clear days seems close enough to touch. The wide, tree-lined walkway is perfect for a leisurely stroll, with benches and lookout points where you can pause and admire the snow-capped peaks. Along the way, you'll pass grand 19th-century villas, the Palais de Justice, and the statue of Henry IV. The boulevard is a beloved local gathering spot, especially at sunset when the mountains glow pink. It's also a starting point for exploring the city's other attractions.

Don't miss

  • Panoramic views of the Pyrenees, especially at sunset
  • The statue of Henry IV on horseback
  • The Belle Époque villas lining the boulevard
  • Connection to Parc Beaumont with its gardens and casino
  • The viewpoint near the castle for the best photo opportunities
