I’m quite surprised how this restaurant got the fame that they have. It certainly is wonderful in a million ways but also quite unpretentious and normal for the paranoid ranking geeks. The atmosphere is very casual and service is very friendly bordering on informal but never careless. The dishes in the set menu are subtle and gentle with most tastes requiring some love of balance and clean taste to be appreciated. Be it the comte butter with brioche, salmon with sour greens sauce or salad with almond mushroom (play on sauté) sauce, there’s nothing here to impress directly but, in a sense removes formality and decorum to make you see what balance and impeccable technique can achieve. Then there is a more risque dish like potato risotto. The sauce would make any risotto amazing but it works so beautifully with the undercooked potato that it makes perfect sense for you to experiment with potatoes more at home. On the other hand, you may just think that the undercooked potato is nothing to get excited about and hate the dish. It’s a special place for a reasonably prepared foodie and its informal atmosphere, at least to me, makes it easier to enjoy the chefs craft.
Septime did not disappoint, although we did not have much time to wait. My husband and I walked in Monday afternoon and were able to secure the last 2 seats in the restaurant. The presentation, flavors, ingredients, atmosphere… Septime has it all in spades. Very friendly and not overly attentive service. Great experience. Bravo.
Nice food but overpriced. The food is good for sure but small portion with very high price. Been there 10 years old before the hype heats up, was much much better. Anyway the restaurant is full everyday, so…
I came here with my partner at the time I am not sure if i found it to be as exciting as i thought it would be; due to its high rankings in certain lists. upon reflection this was a flawless meal with excellent hospitality and food, executed perfectly with creative and memorable plates of food. Unlike anything else I have personally experienced around the globe. I find my self regularly thinking about this meal and the long standing effect it had on my outlook when regarding food and restaurants. exceptional atmosphere food and originality. I also purchased the book which has other great insights into the sustainable practices of their work. a leading force in the hospitality industry.
