The Atelier des Lumières is Paris's pioneering immersive digital-art centre, a former 19th-century iron foundry whose vast, raw industrial halls are transformed into a 360-degree canvas. High-definition projectors splash monumental, moving reproductions of great art across every wall, floor, and the towering ceilings, synadvanced to music, while you walk through, sit, or simply stand enveloped in the imagery. Past shows have brought the works of Klimt, Van Gogh, Cézanne, and others to life on an overwhelming scale.
It's a very different museum experience, sensory and atmospheric rather than scholarly, and hugely popular, so book ahead. The programme changes periodically (one long-running main show plus shorter ones), so check what's currently projected. It's a memorable, family-friendly hour, especially for those who find traditional galleries dry.
