Tour Magne is the only remaining tower from the original Roman fortifications of Nîmes, dating back to the 1st century BC. Located atop Mont Cavalier within the scenic Jardins de la Fontaine, this imposing octagonal structure once served as a watchtower and symbol of Roman power. Today, visitors can climb the internal staircase to the top for sweeping views over the city, the surrounding countryside, and even the Mediterranean on clear days. The tower is surrounded by lush gardens and archaeological remains, making it a peaceful yet historically rich stop. Its strategic position and enduring stonework offer a tangible connection to Nîmes' Roman past, and the climb rewards with one of the best vantage points in the region.
