Nice Cathedral, officially the Cathédrale Sainte-Réparate, is a masterpiece of Baroque architecture nestled in the narrow streets of Old Nice. Its facade, though relatively restrained, gives way to an opulent interior adorned with gilded stucco, marble columns, and vibrant frescoes. The single nave is flanked by side chapels, each housing notable artworks, including a painting by Louis Van Loo. The dome, visible from afar, is a landmark of the old town. The cathedral is dedicated to Saint Reparata, a young Christian martyr from the 3rd century, whose relics are enshrined within. The atmosphere inside is serene and contemplative, offering a cool respite from the bustling streets. Visitors can admire the intricate wooden choir stalls, the grand organ, and the beautiful stained-glass windows. The cathedral remains an active place of worship, with regular masses and concerts that fill the space with music.
