Cathédrale Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul de Nantes is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture that dominates the city's skyline with its twin towers and intricate facade. Construction began in 1434 and took over 450 years to complete, resulting in a blend of Gothic and Renaissance styles. Inside, you'll find soaring vaulted ceilings, beautiful stained glass windows, and the magnificent tomb of Francis II, Duke of Brittany, and his wife Marguerite de Foix. The cathedral's bright white limestone exterior gives it a luminous appearance, especially at sunset. Despite suffering a fire in 1972, it has been meticulously restored and remains a symbol of Nantes' resilience and artistic heritage.
