Catène de Containers is a monumental public artwork created by French artist Vincent Ganivet for Le Havre's 500th anniversary in 2017. It consists of 38 brightly colored shipping containers stacked to form two massive arches, each 12 meters high, spanning the entrance to the Saint-Nicolas dock. The installation is a vibrant tribute to Le Havre's identity as a major port city, blending industrial aesthetics with artistic expression. Visitors can walk through the arches, experiencing the scale and color up close. The structure is particularly photogenic at sunrise or sunset, when the light plays off the containers. It has quickly become a beloved landmark, symbolizing the city's renewal and connection to global trade.
