Plage de la Concurrence is a small sandy beach located right in La Rochelle, near the Old Port and the aquarium. It's a popular spot for both locals and tourists to sunbathe, swim, or simply enjoy the view of the Atlantic and the islands of Ré and Oléron. The beach is sheltered by a seawall and has a gentle slope, making it safe for families. However, at high tide, the water covers the entire beach, so visitors should check tide times before heading out. The surrounding area has cafes and restaurants, and the beach is a great place to watch boats come and go. It's also a starting point for walks along the coast towards the Minimes district.
Don't miss
- Swimming and sunbathing with views of the Atlantic
- Watching the tide come in and cover the beach
- Nearby cafes and ice cream shops for a seaside snack
- Walking along the promenade to the Old Port or the aquarium
- Sunset views over the water
