The Fountain of the Three Orders is a striking monument in Grenoble's Place Notre-Dame, erected in 1897 to commemorate the events of 1788, a prelude to the French Revolution. The fountain features three allegorical figures representing the three estates of the Ancien Régime: the clergy, the nobility, and the commoners (Third Estate). They stand united, symbolizing the historic meeting of the Estates-General of Dauphiné, which demanded reforms from King Louis XVI. The fountain's design is both artistic and symbolic, with water flowing from a central basin. Surrounded by historic buildings, it's a popular spot for photos and reflection on Grenoble's revolutionary history.
