Tour Philippe le Bon is a towering symbol of Burgundian power, rising 46 meters above the Palace of the Dukes. Built between 1450 and 1460 under Duke Philip the Good, the tower was part of the palace's fortifications and later served as a prison and observatory. Today, it is one of Dijon's most popular attractions, rewarding visitors with a 360-degree view of the city's rooftops, the cathedral spires, and on clear days, the distant Mont Blanc. The climb up 316 narrow, spiral stone steps is an adventure in itself, with small windows offering glimpses of the city as you ascend. At the top, an open-air platform lets you linger and take in the panorama. The tower is a must for anyone wanting to appreciate Dijon's medieval layout and the legacy of the dukes.
