Parc de la Colombière is Dijon's largest public park, covering 33 hectares of manicured lawns, formal gardens, and wooded areas. Designed in the classic French garden style by landscape architect André Le Nôtre's school, it was created in the 17th century as a royal hunting ground for the Dukes of Burgundy. Today, it's a beloved recreational space for locals and visitors alike. The park features wide, tree-lined avenues perfect for walking, jogging, or cycling, as well as a large central pond where ducks and swans glide. Children will love the animal enclosures housing goats, sheep, rabbits, and peacocks. There are also playgrounds, tennis courts, and a small café. The park's symmetrical layout includes a grand central alley leading to a semicircular terrace with views over the valley. In spring, the cherry blossoms and tulip beds create a colorful spectacle. The park is also home to several statues and a charming 17th-century hunting lodge (now a restaurant). It's an ideal spot for a leisurely afternoon, a family outing, or a quiet read under a tree.
