Plage du Port d'Avall is the only sandy beach in Collioure, making it a favorite for families and sunbathers. Tucked between the harbor and the Château Royal, this small crescent of golden sand offers calm, shallow waters that are perfect for children. The beach is sheltered by the castle walls, providing a scenic backdrop and a sense of intimacy. From the shore, you can see the castle's towers rising dramatically above the turquoise sea. The beach is well-maintained and equipped with basic amenities like showers and a lifeguard during summer. Despite its popularity, it rarely feels overcrowded outside peak season. The gentle slope of the seabed means you can wade out quite far before the water deepens, making it ideal for paddling. Sunsets here are spectacular, as the castle glows in the evening light. A short walk from the beach leads to the harbor's restaurants and shops, so you can easily combine a swim with lunch or a stroll.

  • Watch the sunset behind the castle from the beach
  • Enjoy a picnic on the sand (there are no on-site restaurants)
