The Bossons Glacier is one of the most accessible glaciers in the Alps, cascading down from Mont Blanc into the Chamonix Valley. Its striking blue ice crevasses and seracs are visible from the village, but a chairlift and hiking trails bring visitors even closer. The Glacier des Bossons chairlift takes you to a viewpoint at 1,800 meters, where you can see the icefall and hear the creaks and groans of the moving glacier. From there, a short walk leads to the grotto (when open), a tunnel carved into the ice. The glacier has retreated significantly over the past century, leaving behind moraines and a dramatic landscape. Interpretive signs along the trail explain glacial dynamics and the impact of climate change. The site is a sobering yet awe-inspiring reminder of nature's power and fragility.
