Pont de Pierre is a historic stone bridge that connects the left and right banks of the Garonne River in Bordeaux. Commissioned by Napoleon I in 1808 and completed in 1822, it was the first bridge to span the river in the city. The bridge features 17 arches, each adorned with a medallion depicting Napoleon's profile. The number of arches is said to correspond to the number of letters in Napoleon's name. The bridge offers pedestrian walkways with views of the river and the city's quays. At night, it is beautifully illuminated, making it a popular spot for evening strolls and photography. It remains a vital traffic artery, though it is now restricted to cars in one direction.
