Pey Berland Tower stands as a striking example of flamboyant Gothic architecture, separate from the adjacent Bordeaux Cathedral. Built in the 15th century, it was named after the archbishop who initiated its construction. The tower rises 66 meters above the city, and visitors can climb its 229 steps to reach the top. Along the way, you'll pass through the bell chamber, which houses a massive 11-ton bell named 'Marie'. At the summit, you're rewarded with a 360-degree view of Bordeaux's rooftops, the Garonne River, and the surrounding countryside. The tower's intricate stonework and flying buttresses are best appreciated from the outside, and its location in the historic center makes it an easy addition to any walking tour.
