The King of Aragon's Staircase is a remarkable feat of engineering and a must-see in Bonifacio. Legend says it was carved in one night by Aragonese soldiers during a siege, though historians believe it was built earlier for access to water. The staircase consists of 187 steep, narrow steps cut directly into the white limestone cliff, descending to a natural spring at sea level. The descent is thrilling, with the rock face on one side and a sheer drop on the other. At the bottom, you can see the crystal-clear water and the dramatic cliffs rising above. The climb back up is strenuous but rewarding.
