The Church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste (Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste) is the largest church in Corsica, dominating the skyline of Bastia's old town. Built between 1636 and 1666, its Baroque facade features two towering bell towers that are visible from afar. Inside, the vast nave is adorned with ornate chapels, a magnificent organ, and beautiful frescoes. The church is a focal point for religious festivals, especially the Procession du Christ Noir on Good Friday. Visitors can climb one of the towers for a panoramic view of the city and harbor. The interior's grandeur and the lively square outside make it a must-see.

Don't miss

  • The twin bell towers offering panoramic views (climb if open)
  • The ornate Baroque interior with side chapels and frescoes
  • The grand organ, one of the largest in Corsica
