We visited Balti after watching day 3 of the 1st cricket test at Optus stadium. It was absolutely amazing night, good food good service and what an atmosphere with the restaurant packed and people waiting outside. We were a group of family and friends and dined with the superstars of the Indian cricket team sitting on 3 different tables around the restaurant and took pictures with them. Balti has been our favourite restaurant for some time and now we know another reason why. It has been serving superstars like Sachin, Virat, Dhoni Sehwag Ghambir and many more legends from all around the world and now the new breed of cricketers seem to have been eating here on a daily basis as many of them are spotted every night. We loved specials Haandi chicken and Kaju mushroom matar this time and their Rasmalai is the best. Will keep coming back. 🙏
We arrived for dinner at 7:30pm on a Sunday and were kept waiting for about 15 mts at which point a middle aged person (apparently the owner) came to us and told us and a few other guests that we would be seated shortly but we had to eat fast and complete our meal by 8:30 to 8:45pm as he had more people coming around 8:30pm One of the guest left while we were seated. The waitress came to take our order at about 7:58pm at which point I told her that before we ordered I wanted to clarify that we did not want to be rushed and in fact if we had to leave by 8.30pm we would rather eat elsewhere. She assured us it would not be an issue and took our order. Shortly there after the owner came by and tried to clarify that he did not say we had to leave by 8:30 but we had about 45 mts to complete our meal. At that time it was 8:10pm He implied he had a large party coming and he would have to move us half way through if we were not done by 8:30pm. I told him why did he seat us to begin with. He then suggested if we were not going to move after we had started our dinner he would rather not serve us. We got up and left. On top of it all his waitress stopped us briefly and apologised on how we had need treated by her “boss” What a farce being asked to eat fast so that he could an accommodate another booking at our expense. Never before had we been told to eat fast.
