The Pyramid of Menkaure, the third and smallest of the Giza pyramids, was built for Pharaoh Menkaure (grandson of Khufu). Standing at 65.5 meters tall, it is dwarfed by its neighbors but features a unique construction: the lower courses are clad in granite, while the upper sections use limestone. Visitors can enter the pyramid and descend into a series of chambers, including a burial chamber with a vaulted ceiling. The pyramid is part of a complex that includes three smaller queen's pyramids and a mortuary temple. Its quieter atmosphere allows for a more reflective visit.

Don't miss

  • Examine the granite casing stones at the base, a distinctive feature not seen on the other two main pyramids.
  • Enter the burial chamber to see the vaulted ceiling and the remains of the sarcophagus.
  • Explore the three small queen's pyramids adjacent to Menkaure's pyramid.
