El Panecillo, meaning 'little bread roll,' is a 200-meter hill that provides one of the best vantage points over Quito's historic center and the surrounding Andes. At its summit stands the Virgin of El Panecillo statue, but the hill itself offers a peaceful park setting with benches and paths.
