The MV Jessica was an oil tanker that ran aground on San Cristóbal Island in January 2001, spilling over 600,000 liters of fuel and causing one of the Galápagos' worst environmental disasters. The wreck remains visible near Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, serving as a poignant reminder of the islands' fragility.
