La Caleta is a small coastal village east of Boca Chica that blends beach relaxation with cultural history. Its dark-sand beach is less crowded than Boca Chica, providing a more tranquil setting for swimming and sunbathing. The village is also the gateway to the Parque Nacional Submarino La Caleta, where snorkelers and divers explore coral reefs and shipwrecks. On land, visitors can see remnants of Taino settlements, including petroglyphs and middens, offering a glimpse into pre-Columbian life. The area's dual appeal, marine and archaeological, makes it a unique day-trip destination.

Don't miss

  • Relax on the quieter, darker-sand beach away from Boca Chica's crowds
  • Explore Taino petroglyphs and archaeological sites near the shoreline
  • Snorkel or dive in the adjacent submarine national park's coral reefs
