Limassol Salt Lake, also known as Akrotiri Salt Lake, is a large seasonal wetland west of the city that fills with water in winter and dries up in summer. During the cooler months, it becomes a vital stopover for migratory birds, most famously flocks of greater flamingos that feed on brine shrimp, turning the lake pink. Visitors can walk along the shoreline or cycle the surrounding trails, observing birdlife from designated viewpoints. The stark, reflective landscape in summer offers a different, serene beauty.
