The Pierides Museum occupies a restored 19th-century mansion in central Larnaca, offering an intimate alternative to state-run museums. Its collection spans 4,000 years, from Chalcolithic idols to Roman glassware, all gathered by the Pierides family, prominent merchants and diplomats. Visitors wander through period rooms filled with ceramics, coins, and terracotta figurines, each piece telling a story of Cyprus's cultural crossroads. The museum's highlight is its array of ancient amphorae and a rare collection of medieval glazed pottery, displayed alongside family heirlooms and archival photographs.
Don't miss
- A dazzling array of Roman glass vessels, including intact perfume bottles and bowls
- Ancient Cypriot terracotta figurines depicting warriors, dancers, and deities
- The museum's original 19th-century wooden ceilings and courtyard garden
