San Juan Hill, located just east of Santiago de Cuba, is the site of the pivotal Battle of San Juan Hill on July 1, 1898, where U.S. forces, including Theodore Roosevelt's Rough Riders, charged and captured the Spanish-held heights. Visitors can walk the hilltop, see a small monument and interpretive signs, and imagine the historic assault. The site offers views of the surrounding countryside and is a short drive from the city center.
