Salona, located just northeast of Split, was the thriving capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia. Today, its extensive ruins offer a fascinating glimpse into Roman urban life. Visitors can explore the remains of the amphitheater, city walls, forums, baths, and early Christian basilicas. The site is largely unexcavated, allowing for a sense of discovery as you walk among ancient stones. The amphitheater, once seating up to 18,000 spectators, is a highlight, along with the well-preserved aqueduct and necropolises.
