Grič Tunnel is a 350-meter-long network of passages beneath Zagreb's Upper Town, originally built as an air-raid shelter during World War II. Today, it serves as a pedestrian shortcut connecting Mesnička and Radićeva streets, and hosts art installations, concerts, and cultural events. The tunnel's raw concrete walls and dim lighting create an atmospheric contrast to the city above. Visitors can walk through for free, experiencing a unique slice of Zagreb's layered history. Its cool interior offers a respite from summer heat.

Don't miss

  • Free walk through the historic underground passage
  • Occasional art exhibitions and light installations inside
  • Cool, atmospheric escape from the city bustle
