Sponza Palace is one of Dubrovnik's finest examples of Gothic-Renaissance architecture, built in the early 16th century. Originally a customs house and mint, it later became a treasury and archive. The building's elegant facade features a blend of Gothic arches and Renaissance windows, while inside, a peaceful arcaded courtyard invites quiet reflection. Today, it houses the State Archives and a memorial room dedicated to the defenders of Dubrovnik during the 1991 siege. Visitors can explore the courtyard and the small museum, which displays artifacts and documents from the city's storied history.
