Werner Sauter Wildlife Refuge is a private reserve near Sámara that safeguards one of the last remnants of dry tropical forest in the region. The refuge features well-marked trails through dense vegetation, where visitors can spot troops of howler monkeys, white-faced capuchins, and a variety of bird species like toucans and motmots. The forest also shelters iguanas, agoutis, and occasionally armadillos. A short hike leads to a viewpoint overlooking the Pacific, making it a rewarding stop for nature lovers.
