The Metropolitan Cathedral of Medellín, also known as the Catedral Basílica Metropolitana de la Inmaculada Concepción, is a massive brick structure that holds the title of one of the largest brick churches globally. Located in the heart of the city, its construction began in 1890 and was completed in 1931. Visitors are struck by its imposing neoclassical facade and the vast, serene interior, which can accommodate over 8,000 people. The cathedral's distinctive red-brick exterior and twin towers make it a landmark visible from many points in the city. Inside, the high vaulted ceilings and stained-glass windows create a sense of peace amid the urban bustle.
