The Jinsha River, meaning 'Golden Sand River,' flows from the Tibetan Plateau and meets the Min River at Yibin to form the Yangtze. Near Yibin, its wide, swift waters create a striking landscape of cliffs and terraced banks. Visitors can take short river cruises that showcase the confluence and the surrounding hills, or simply enjoy the view from the city's riverfront parks. The river is also known for its historical role as a major transport route.
