The Small Wild Goose Pagoda stands 43 meters tall within the tranquil Jianfu Temple complex, a Buddhist site founded in the Tang dynasty. Unlike its larger counterpart, this pagoda has a more intimate feel, with a slender, multi-eaved brick structure that survived earthquakes. Visitors can climb the narrow stairs inside for views over the temple grounds and Xi'an. The surrounding garden features ancient trees, stone sculptures, and a bell tower. Adjacent is the Xi'an Museum, which displays artifacts from the region's imperial past, making this a peaceful cultural hub away from the crowds.

Don't miss

  • Climb the narrow interior stairs to the top for a view of the temple complex and city
  • Ring the iron bell in the bell tower for good luck, as locals do
  • Browse the Xi'an Museum's collection of Tang dynasty pottery and Buddhist relics
