The Shaanxi History Museum is one of China's largest and most comprehensive museums, located just north of the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda. Its collection spans from prehistoric times through the Qing dynasty, with a special focus on the Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang periods when Xi'an (then Chang'an) was the imperial capital. The museum's modern Tang-style building houses exquisite bronzes, terracotta figures, gold and silverware, and frescoes from royal tombs. Exhibits are arranged chronologically, allowing visitors to trace the region's cultural evolution. The museum is renowned for its well-preserved artifacts, including a set of Qin dynasty bronze chariots and Han dynasty jade suits.

Don't miss

  • See the Qin dynasty bronze chariots and horses, a masterpiece of ancient metalwork.
  • Admire the Tang dynasty gold and silver treasures, including a gilded silver incense burner.
  • View the Han dynasty jade burial suit, made of thousands of jade pieces sewn with gold wire.
