Bayi Square is Nanchang's largest public square, built to honor the 1927 Nanchang Uprising, a pivotal event in Chinese communist history. Dominating the space is the Nanchang Uprising Monument, a 53-meter-tall obelisk with reliefs depicting revolutionary scenes. The square is a hub for locals and tourists alike, who stroll past fountains, flowerbeds, and flagpoles. At night, the monument is illuminated, and the musical fountains draw crowds. It also serves as a venue for civic events and celebrations.

Don't miss

  • Stand at the base of the Nanchang Uprising Monument and study its historical reliefs
  • Watch the musical fountain show in the evening (typically around 7–8 PM)
  • Visit the underground shopping arcade for local snacks and souvenirs
