Yonghe Temple, also known as the Lama Temple, is the most renowned Tibetan Buddhist monastery outside Tibet. Built in 1694 as a residence for Prince Yongzheng, it was later converted into a lamasery. The complex features five grand halls with intricate murals, bronze statues, and prayer wheels. The highlight is the Wanfu Pavilion, housing a 26-meter-tall statue of the Maitreya Buddha carved from a single sandalwood tree, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visitors can observe monks chanting and pilgrims prostrating, offering a serene spiritual experience.
