The National Centre for the Performing Arts, often called The Egg, is a stunning modern venue on Chang'an Avenue. Its titanium-clad dome and glass curtain wall sit on a man-made lake, creating the illusion of a floating structure. Inside, the centre houses an opera house, concert hall, and theatre, each with state-of-the-art acoustics. Visitors can attend performances by the NCPA Orchestra and international troupes, or simply tour the futuristic interior, which features marble floors, acrylic columns, and a grand staircase. The venue has become a symbol of Beijing's cultural renaissance.
Don't miss
- A performance in the main opera house with world-class acoustics
- The glass-walled underwater corridor leading into the building
- The rooftop garden with views of the Forbidden City and Tiananmen
