Zoologico Nacional de Chile

The Zoológico Nacional de Chile (National Zoo) is one of Santiago's most popular family attractions, set dramatically on the lower slopes of San Cristóbal Hill within the vast Parque Metropolitano, the green lung of the city. Home to a wide range of animals from Chile and around the world, including native species like pumas, condors, and Chilean flamingos alongside big cats, primates, and more, the zoo is built into the hillside in terraces, so visiting involves a scenic climb (or you can combine it with the park's funicular). Its elevated setting also rewards visitors with lovely views over Santiago and toward the Andes.

As part of the huge Parque Metropolitano, it pairs naturally with the park's other attractions, including the funicular railway, the summit with its statue of the Virgin, gardens, and viewpoints.
