The Battle of Pudeto commemorates the last armed conflict of the Chilean independence process. On January 13, 1826, Chilean naval forces under Admiral Manuel Blanco Encalada engaged Spanish royalist ships in the Pudeto River estuary, securing control of the waterways around Ancud. Today, the site is a quiet coastal area with a commemorative monument and interpretive signage. Visitors can reflect on the battle's significance while observing the tidal channels and birdlife that now define this peaceful setting.
