Salamansa is a small, traditional fishing village located on the northern coast of São Vicente, about 10 kilometers from Mindelo. Its main draw is the beautiful black sand beach, formed from volcanic minerals, which offers a unique and dramatic landscape. The village itself is quiet and authentic, with colorful houses, fishing boats pulled up on the shore, and a relaxed atmosphere far from the city's bustle. Visitors can swim in the calm waters, sunbathe on the dark sand, or watch local fishermen at work. The area is also known for its strong winds, making it a popular spot for windsurfing and kitesurfing.
Don't miss
- Relax on the unique black sand beach, a volcanic feature of the island.
- Watch local fishermen mend nets and launch their traditional boats.
- Try windsurfing or kitesurfing in the windy conditions off the beach.
